Five Things You Need To Know, Dec. 1

Today is Thursday, Dec. 1. Here are five things you need to know.

Holiday Concert: holds its holiday concert tonight at 7 p.m.

Food For Fines: Starting Monday and running through Jan. 20, the Lynnfield Library is running its Food For Fines program. For each non-perishable item brought in to donate, the library will deduct $1 from your overdue book fines. If you bring in boxes of cereal, diapers or containers of baby formula, you get $4 off your fines. (So be sure to start reading very, very slowly).  This will not apply to DVDs and videos or to damaged items.

Gospel According To Scrooge: The Calvary Christian Church is preparing its annual production of “The Gospel According to Scrooge.” Their show dates are Friday, Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. If needed, there will be a snow date performance that Monday, Dec. 12.  The church also posted a video on Youtube previewing the show. Senior Financial Strategies: Today at 12:30 p.m., the Lynnfield Senior Center is hosting a lecture on senior financial strategies. Certified elder law attorney Patrick Curley will discuss ways for seniors to protect their home and savings. Also, attorney Lisa Budman will discuss tax strategies. Sign up at the front desk, lunch is $2.

Constituent Service: On Friday morning at 10 a.m., State Senator Katherine Clark or a member of her staff will be at Lynnfield Town Hall for a constituent service hour.
