Invention Convention for young builders aged 5 and up today, 2 p.m. at the library.

Today is Wednesday, August 8. Here are five things you need to know.  

Invention Convention: Today at 2 p.m., the Lynnfield Library hosts an Invention Convention, for young builders age 5 and up who would like to create with Legos, K’Nex, recycled hoursehold materials, and more.

Zip Trip:  The Lynnfield Police are advising residents to expect delays on Main Street Friday morning. The Fox 25 news crew will be at the Lynnfield Middle School for their Lynnfield “Zip Trip” broadcast from 6 to 10 a.m.

Walk Of Hope For ALS: Coming up on Saturday, September 8, it’s the 11th Annual Walk of Hope to Benefit ALS research. Proceeds benefit the Angel Fund, which is devoted to fighting ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Registration begins at 9 a.m. that day and the walk is at 11 a.m.  To get involved as an individual or as a team, go to www.theangelfund.org or call the Angel Fund at 781-245-7070.  Donations to the Angel Fund can also be sent to 649 Main Street, Wakefield, MA 01880.  Companies interested in sponsorship opportunities are also sought

Girls Basketball: The LHS Girls Basketball Team & The Lynnfield Recreation Commission is offering a Summer Slam Basketball program for girls entering Grades 4 -9.  The sessions will take place on August 13, 15, 20 & 22 at the Lynnfield Middle School. Hospice Volunteers Sought: Are you interested in becoming a hospice volunteer? The next volunteer training program for Hospice of the North Shore & Greater Boston is Wednesday, September 12 at 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102 in Danvers.
