School committee holds first meeting of the new school year tonight at town hall.

Today is Tuesday, August 28. Here are five things you need to know.

Town Business: Lynnfield School Committee holds its first meeting of the new school year tonight at 7 p.m. This year’s meetings will be held at town hall.

SEPAC Meeting: On Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.. at Lynnfield Preschool, the Lynnfield Special Education Parents Advisory Council  holds its first meeting of the school year, withLynnfield School Superintendent Dr. Thomas Jefferson and Lynnfield School Committee SEPAC liaison Dr. Salvatore Cammarata. They will also be introducing the Community Connections social and fund-raising event being planned for April 2013.

Lunch and a Lecture: Respiratory Health: Maureen Palla,BS,LPN from Home Health VNA will be here to lead a discussion of what the respiratory system is and the different conditions that can affect it. She will also discuss safeguards to help keep us healthy. Thursday, Sept 13 at 12:30. Free. Lunch will be served at 11:30 for $2.00/$3.00. You must sign up for lunch by 12 noon the day before. Please sign up separately for the lunch and the lecture.

Sing & Sway: On Tuesday, September 11th, the Lynnfield Library has a Sing & Sway program at 10 a.m. to introduce rhythm and dance activities to preschool children aged 2-6.

2014 Celebration: The Lynnfield Historical Society is selling the distinctive “Old Meeting House” variety of hosta plant to raise some early funds for the town’s 300th anniversary celebration in 2014.  The plants have purple flowers and are $25 each. .
