Today is Thursday, August 2. Here are five things you need to know.

Family Event: Early August is general a quiet time in Lynnfield. One upcoming event is next Wednesday, August 8 at 2 p.m., when the library hosts an Invention Convention, for young builders age 5 and up who would like to create with Legos, K’Nex, recycled hoursehold materials, and more.

First Day Of School: Now that it’s already August, here’s a thought – there are now less than four weeks left unti the first day of school in Lynnfield, which is August 29th this year.

Golf Tournament: The David K. Johnson Foundation will holds its 12th annual DKJ Foundation Golf Tournament this Monday, August 20 at the Black Swan Country Club in Georgetown. The event raises funds in the fight against Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, and some proceeds will benefit the Sanborn Place in Reading and Wakefield. North Shore Navigators Fundraiser: North Shore-based nonprofit La Chic Mentoring Plus is having a fundraiser next Wednesday, August 8 at the North Shore Navigators game at Fraser Field in Lynn, 6 p.m.  Silent auction and raffle items will be featured, and those contributing items receive free admission.
