Lynnfield, Peabody police take on Red Sox old-timers in Sep. 5 game for the Jimmy Fund.

Today is August 16, 2011. Here are five things you need to know:

Lynnfield 911: The town's 9/11 memorial committee meets tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Lynnfield Fire Headquarters on Summer Street. To learn more about the upcoming memorial activities in town, to get involved, or to make a donation, visit the Lynnfield 911 website.

Baseball Fundraising Game: On Labor Day – Monday, September 5 at 10 a.m., members of the Peabody and Lynnfield police forces will team up to play the North Shore Oldtimers, consisting of Red Sox alumni such as Oil Can Boyd, John Tudor, Ken Ryan and Bill "The Spaceman" Lee. The game is at Emerson Park in Peabody and donations are encouraged to benefit The Jimmy Fund.

LHS Cheerleaders Car Wash: The LHS cheerleaders are having a car wash fundraiser on Sunday, August 28 at the South Lynnfield Post Office, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. .

Town Business: Tonight at 5:30 p.m., there is a board of health meeting in the selectmen's room at Lynnfield Town Hall. The conservation commission meets at 6:30 p.m. in the selectmen's room.

Fiesta Story Time: On Tuesdays this summer, the Lynnfield Library has been running a fiesta story time featuring stories and songs in English and Spanish for ages 0-5. There is a fiesta story time today at 1:30 p.m. However, as the fall approaches, these gatherings will be moving to Friday. After today, the next one is Friday, September 2 from 3 to 3:45 p.m.
