Today is Wednesday, August 15. Here are five things you need to know.

Mosquito Spraying: As many of you know, a mosquito tested positive for the EEE virus in neighboring Reading. As a result, the town is planning to do some mosquito spraying in the vicinity of Main Street on Thursday night. .

Skype With Children’s Author: Today at 2:30 p.m., the Lynnfield Library has its first-ever virtual author visit with Deb Lund, author of "Dinosauring" and other children's books. The kids will read some of her books together and think of some questions to ask Lund beforehand. Registration required. Call Laura or Pam at 781-334-5411 to sign up.

Cheer Camp: A two-day cheerleading camp runs in Lynnfield today and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is held by the LHS cheerleading squad and by Lynnfield Recreation. .

Road Scholars: Michele Ellicks from the MassDOT/RMV will be at the senior center on Thursday, August 16 at 12:30 p.m. to discuss issues facing older drivers, rules of the road, warning signs of unsafe driving, new laws and recent changes that have taken place at the RMV. She will also discuss what driving alternatives are available in your community. Free. Please sign up at the front desk. Lunch is at 11:30 for $2.00/$3.00. You must sign up for lunch at the front desk by 12 noon the day before. Please sign up for lunch and the lecture separately.

Town Business: There’s not much in the way of town business going on between now and the end of August. The next school committee meeting is Tuesday, August 28 at 7 p.m. at town hall, and the next planning board meeting is Wednesday, August 29 at 7:30 p.m., also at town hall.
