Reid's Ride comedy night fundraiser coming up May 10.

Today is Wednesday, April 11. Here are five things you need to know.

Reid’s Ride Comedy Night:  This Thursday, May 10 at 7 p.m., stop by Prince Pizzeria on Route 1 in Saugus for a fundraiser to benefit the Reid Sacco Memorial Foundation, which helps fight cancer in children.  Cost is $20 per person, including pizza and a show with three comedians.  There will be a cash bar and the event is 18+. Volunteer Opportunity: Local nonprofit group BKP sends children’s books overseas to libraries in impoverished communities in the Philippines.  The group is having their next book packing session this Saturday, April 14 from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 1:30 p.m. at Centre Congregational Church in the lower level. Baseball Celebration: This Thursday, April 12 at 11:30 a.m., stop by the Lynnfield Senior Center and celebrate the new baseball season. Enjoy baseball favorites of Hot Dogs, Potato Salad, Baked Beans, Ice Cream Sundae Bar and of course Peanuts and Cracker Jacks. $2. Must sign up at the front desk in advance. Seating is limited.

Anna Tourkakis: Mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 11 and drop by the next Curious About Cuisine meeting at the from 3 to 4 p.m. Meet Anna Tourkakis, Lynnfield-based author of the cookbook “Delicious Simplicity” whose columns have also appeared on Lynnfield Patch.  The cookbook features healthy and delicious recipes with a Mediterranean influence that are also easy to prepare.

Beverly Cleary Birthday: A second event planned for today at the Lynnfield Library is a birthday celebration of Beverly Cleary, author of the classic “Ramona” children’s books and other works. Bring the kids by the library at 3:45 p.m. for a story and craft.
