Dennis is No Menace

Dennis is a Love-Bug

I am Dennis, but I am no Menace

I hope you don’t watch too much television from the 1960’s.  I say that because I may be called Dennis, but I am very much not a menace.   I am mellow and sensible and I never make mischief.  Ok, I may look a little gruff.  But that is all a put-on to cover up the fact that I am actually a love-bug and a sweetie-pie.

How sweet am I?  Well, I will cuddle right next to you and purr you to sleep.  I love to be petted and have my ears rubbed.  Belly rubs?  I adore those.  I just want to be near you.  That does not mean I am all laziness and lying around.  I do like to bat around a ball or two and I can really get into a game of chase the mouse on the wire.  But no hi-jinx for me, if you know what I mean.

When you do not have time to play, I can really enjoy a little nap in the sun.  Or maybe I will snuggle down where you were sitting so I can inhale your special human scent.  I love you so much.

PAWS rescued me from my life as a neighborhood stray.  They knew I must have belonged to someone because I am a people person…I mean cat.  Since no one has come forward to claim me, I am ready for a new family. If your family happens to include other, mellow cats, I am likely to ignore them as long as they do not invade my personal space.  I would also be quite happy as your one and only.  Kittens, now they are another thing altogether.  All that drama is not for me.  As I said, I am not like THAT Dennis (the Menace).

So, I am pretty much just a really perfect cat who likes to live the cat’s ideal life: eat, play, cuddle, sunbath, rest, repeat.  Does that sound good to you?  If so, we could be a match.  So why not call PAWS and ask to meet me?  I am very eager to find my forever home and I think you might just be the one for me.  Oh…..could you scratch just a little lower to the left.  Aaah…that feels good….purrrrrrrr.

Hey, wait—one more thing.  Did you miss Mother’s Day?  Well it’s not too late to give the gift of love to the mothers (or anyone) in your life by making a donation to PAWS.  If you donate in honor of someone you love, PAWS will send your honoree a lovely card acknowledging the gift.  PAWS is an all-volunteer organization, so you can be certain all your money will go directly to helping the animals like me that they rescue.  It is kitten season and PAWS is taking in many pregnant strays, so this is a great time to donate to help support all these babies.  I don’t like kittens myself, but hey, someone has to care for them.  You can donate on PAWS’ website, or mail checks to PAWS, 383R Lowell Street, Suite 5, Wakefield, MA, 01880.  Be sure to include the name and address of the person you are honoring.  And then call PAWS and come to meet me…Please!!!!

PAWS is an all-volunteer animal welfare organization.  Founded by the late Esther Nowell in 1982, PAWS responds to animal-related needs in many communities north of Boston.  Our top service areas include Wakefield, Lynnfield, Reading, North Reading, Saugus, Stoneham, Woburn, Winchester, and Malden.  Our mission is to promote and protect the rights and well-being of all domestic animals and wildlife, and foster a greater understanding of animal welfare and animal rights through education.  PAWS receives no local, state or federal funding.  Our budget is completely funded by our membership dues, adoption services, annual fundraising efforts, and kind donations from friends and members.
