Adopt this Beautiful Kitten with a Silly Name

Wakefield-based PAWS helps find good local homes for cats and dogs.

This was provided by PAWS of Wakefield:

Who calls a cat Cake Batter?  I mean really?  They say it is a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor.  Do you know what that means?  I don’t.  I am a kitten after all and I don’t have much experience in the world, even less in the human world.  So, here’s the thing…I call myself Slinky.  You can use that name too if you like.

I call myself Slinky because when I first arrived at my PAWS foster home, I was a bit on the timid side.  You would have been too.  Everything seemed so big and I was so small and without my mother.  So I would slink around low and carefully until I was sure of my surroundings.  Now, however, true to my kitten nature, I zip around in a super-kinetic frenzy playing with everything I touch or come across. It’s all just so interesting and enticing.  Life is good (someone should put that on a t-shirt) and I am a kitten full of fun and happiness. Here is a You Tube of me playing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1ov4MnChN4&feature=em-upload_owner

While I have outgrown my kitten shyness, I still appreciate when people let me approach them and not the other way around.   More often than not, I will crawl in your lap and snuggle and purr so loud you can hear me across the room. I have my quiet moments too when I will slink off to find private nook to snooze away the afternoon.  That is when I store up energy for the next frolic.

I could really be happy in almost any kind of home.  I do miss my sister who has already found a forever family.  So I think I would really love to have a new fun buddy to play with.  I am so curious about other cats that I keep sneaking up to get close to the big kitty in my foster home.  But she just keeps saying “bug off brat,” and just won’t goof around or wrestle with me. My kitten guess is that I would be happiest if you already had a cat at home.  It does not matter what age as long as she or he likes company and enjoys the occasional kitten romp.  If you don’t already have a cat, perhaps you could talk to the wonderful PAWS adoption counselor.  I know PAWS can help you find either a second kitten to keep me company, or a settled older cat to keep me in line.  Do you like that idea?  I do.

I need to sign off by saying that I don’t think my pictures do me much justice because it is so hard to photograph an all-black kitten like myself.  Everyone who sees me, however, says I am very, very cute.  I am still just a small three- month-old kitten, but I think I am going to be a good sized-adult. When I first arrived, my body was so long for my short little legs that I looked like a black ferret. Now, I am growing into my body.  I am still very long, however, and you will see that when I’m really interested in something, I can stand up on my back legs and hold myself straight up like a meerkat. I will tell you though I am no mere cat; I am my own unique self, slinky and sweet as Cake Batter.  When you adopt me of course, you can call me whatever you want.  I will love you no matter how silly the name.
