A Look At Lynnfield-Related Items Up For Auction

Each weekend, we take a look at some of the interesting items from Lynnfield that appear on eBay.

1910 Humor: This image is a bit surprising considering how no matter how far into the distant past you go, Lynnfield is only about 12 miles north of Boston. In this image, you would think the town was closer to Caribou, Maine. Descendants of this postcard live on to this day in northern Maine tourist areas, showing the city-slickers mystified and awed by the long-bearded old local who's saying "ayuh."

The OTHER Lynnfield Pioneers: This album, "Emerge," from a band known as the Lynnfield Pioneers was released in 1997. And yes, I've tried to chase down members of the former band for a feature story but with no luck up to this point.

Also, a poster from the band's Emerge album is for sale here. There is also an unwrapped copy of the band's Lamp Comp EP for sale here. The band lives on in Youtube videos. Here's one now.

Not The Actual Lynnfield: This postcard reveals that at least a good half century ago, there was a cable car stop in the Shaker Heights/Cleveland area called Lynnfield Station.

Scenic Suntaug Lake: In last week's eBay Report, I devoted the entire column to old postcards showing various parts of the former Suntaug Lake Inn. This week, I've found a postcard that shows the shoreline, sans inn, as it would have appeared many decades ago. Looks like a fairly nice place for a swim.

Town Pump And Common: This is a really, really vintage image of Lynnfield. Vintage enough to show a town pump that was apparently once located on the edge of the town common. It might just be the photo technology of the time, but the Old Meeting House appears to be yellow in this image. A right turn would lead to what is now South Common Street while going straight would continue down Main Street toward what is now the high school.
