RMLD: Energy Audit Program is On Hold

The following information was provided by Reading Municipal Light Department:

Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) is experiencing an extensive number of requests for home energy audits this season.  Because of the limited funds and resources available for this program, RMLD has placed a temporary hold on performing future audits, while it reassesses its procedures.

“We anticipate resuming the audit program in early March,” said Interim General Manager Kevin Sullivan.  “We apologize for any inconvenience and we will be contacting customers on the waiting list in the near future to ascertain their needs.”

RMLD appreciates its customers’ patience during the next few weeks.  Customer specialists are available to answer any questions at 781-944-1340.

RMLD will offer the second in a series of free winter workshops to all residential customers, with the goal of increasing awareness and education on the many residential energy efficiency options available today.  The next workshop will be held in the Board Room at RMLD, 230 Ash Street, Reading, at 7 p.m.

This workshop’s focus will be on home energy audits, weatherization and appliance rebates.  In addition, customers who use oil heat will have the opportunity to talk with several heating and cooling experts at the workshop. Refreshments will be served.

The workshop series is sponsored by RMLD and a grant from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC), along the Local Energy Action Programs (LEAP) in Reading, North Reading, Lynnfield and Wilmington.
