Gathering Change Plans To Bring Photography Exhibit To Area

Local nonprofit laying groundwork to bring Michael Nye exhibit on hunger in America to Endicott College next October.

Local nonprofit group Gathering Change is preparing to host an exhibit next fall featuring the work of Michael Nye, a nationally-known photographer who highlights hunger issues in his work.

Gathering Change seeks donations of spare change from individuals to be pooled into larger donations for area food pantries. The organization recently held its annual meeting at Lynnfield's Old Meeting House, with several volunteers being honored for their efforts.

Looking ahead, the planned exhibit, "About Hunger And Resilience," is expected to come to Endicott College in Beverly next October. The exhibit will partially serve as a fundraising event for Gathering Change in the form of an opening night event, while also helping to spread awareness about poverty and hunger in the U.S.

"It's a very powerful exhibit," Judy Bousquin, who handles publicity for Gathering Change, told Lynnfield Patch in a recent phone conversation. She also noted that the local nonprofit has been speaking with potential major sponsors who will be needed to help fund the exhibit.

Nye spent more than four years interviewing Americans about their experiences with hunger, and the result is 50 portraits, with audio clips, of these individuals.
