Viral Video-Makers Ylvis Lampoon 'Massachusetts'

The Norwegian comedy group behind the blockbuster "What Does the Fox Say?" have a new video extolling/making fun of the Bay State.

WARNING — The attached video contains language some watchers will find offensive.

A Norwegian comedy troupe made famous by its viral video "What Does the Fox Say?" have come out (so to speak) with a odd ode to the Bay State.

"Massachusetts," by Ylvis, debuted on YouTube on Tuesday. It begins like something a state travel and tourism department might produce. But it gets very weird from there.

The new video doesn't impress James Reed over at the Globe. He called it "short on satire and long on head-scratching moments."

Some people may even find it homophobic. Personally, I'd rather be listening to the chorus of Ylvis' "What Does the Fox Say?" or replaying the group's paean to "Stonehenge."

Apparently, so would the interwebs. "What Does the Fox Say?" has racked up 153 million hits on YouTube. So far, "Massachusetts" has a comparatively small 1.9 million hits.

But don't let me dissuade you. If you want to hear Norwegians mispronounce "Haverhill," take a look.
