Nancy O’Brien began painting as a young woman at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education and also studied at the deCordova Museum School in Lincoln MA. She later studied oil painting with local artist Robert Farris. Her art has been shown locally at shows including the Beebe Estate in Melrose and the Reading Art Association where her work was awarded special mention.

The artist has taught oil painting privately in her own studio as well as instructing adult art education at the Northeast Regional Vocational Technical High School in Wakefield. Nancy will be demonstrating portrait painting with special emphasis on sketching directly on the canvas with paint. She tries to capture the inner essence of her portrait subjects while still being true to their outward appearance.
