Auditions for Wakefield Rep Youth Theatre's - Disney's My Son Pinocchio

Wakefield Repertory Youth Theatre is pleased to announce auditions for its summer program.  The Wakefield Repertory Youth Theatre is a six-week theater camp for students entering grade 5 to entering grade 9.  The camp is designed to teach children about the joy of theater while putting together a spectacular musical theater production. This summer’s production will be Disney’s My Son Pinocchio.

 Auditions for Disney’s My Son Pinocchio will be held at the Wakefield Lynnfield Methodist Church, 273 Vernon Street, Wakefield, on Tuesday, June 14 and Wednesday, June 15 at 4:00pm, with callbacks on Thursday, June 16 at 4:00pm. The camp runs from June 28 until the production goes up August 4-6, 2011.  Rehearsals and performances will be at the Melrose Middle School in Melrose. All students who audition and wish to participate in the production will be cast.  No prior theater experience or preparation is necessary, and all students are encouraged to audition.  

The cost of the program is $750 per student, with a $20 discount for current Wakefield Repertory Theatre members.  The fee includes tuition, annual WRT membership dues, basic theatrical makeup and a show t-shirt.  For two or more siblings in the program, a $100 discount is offered for the second (or more) child.  A $50 deposit will be required at the time of auditions (made payable to Wakefield Repertory Theatre). Please note that no child will be allowed to audition without his/her deposit. 

The artistic staff includes both familiar and new faces. Returning staff members include Adam Schuler (Artistic Director), Katrina Faulstich (Music Director), Keriann Skerry Gaudet (Choreographer), Laura Caton (Stage Manager), Sarah DiTonno (Assistant Stage Manger/Assistant Choreographer), Rob MacRobbie (Tech Director) and Jenn MacRobbie (Program Coordinator). 

For many years this talented crew of enthusiastic students (along with many others) has worked hard to continue this camp so that middle school students in Wakefield and the surrounding areas can enjoy and grow from the same love of theater that has enriched their own lives. Past productions have included Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz and Willy Wonka.
