Concert, Parade Today On Lynnfield Common

Rock band Evolution, consisting of LHS alumni, performs from 6-8 p.m. Annual horribles parade and Independence Day celebration from 4-6 p.m. on town common.

The following is an announcement from the town of Lynnfield:

The rock band Evolution kicks off the Lynnfield Library Summer Concert Series on Wednesday, July 11 from 6-8 p.m. on the Lynnfield Common preceded by Lynnfield’s Independence Day “Horribles Parade” and celebration from 4-6pm.
Evolution continues to be a favorite at the Concert Series.  Comprised primarily of Lynnfield High School alumni, this classic rock band plays songs from the 60’s to the present.  Some members work professionally in the music industry and others play as a hobby.  Musicians Gary Hall, Charles “Kook” Lawry, Jon Craig, Don Walden and Guy Groendall have been together for over thirty years and will be joined for this performance by Brian Maes and Dave Mathews.

This week’s band is co-sponsored by Northrup Associates Realtors, celebrating their 60th year, and Cervizzi’s Martial Arts.  The Lynnfield Rotary Interact Club, comprised of mainly high school students, will run the refreshment table featuring Kayem hot dogs, snacks and drinks. Cervizzi’s will also perform a martial arts demonstration during the band’s break.

Lynnfield’s Independence Day celebration (co-sponsored by Lynnfield Recreation Commission (LRC) and Rotary Interact Club) starts at 4pm with a decorated bike and carriage parade.  Parade registration starts at 3pm in front of the Meeting House and across from the library.  This “Horribles” parade will be around the Lynnfield Common, followed by kids’ activities such as the three-legged race, potato sack race and more - transitioning into the concert at 6pm.
The Lynnfield Public Library Concerts on the Common Committee is sponsoring free children’s activities during the concert.  This week a coloring table and face painting/tattoo station will be available as well as sidewalk chalk, jump ropes, balls and other items for independent play.  Organized games such as relay races and ring toss will be run during intermission and Yaro the balloon artist will make and hand out balloon creations to children.

Raffle tickets will be sold at all concerts to encourage donations.  Proceeds will be used to defray costs and enhance the Lynnfield Summer Concerts experience as well as to sponsor library music programs.  This week’s raffle prizes have been generously donated by: Outback Steakhouse, Baubles Jewelry, Forever Nails, Hockey Town and Whole Foods.  All donations are very much appreciated so please give generously.
