Artist Caleb Stone Featured At Next LAG Meeting

Caleb Stone is this month's guest of the Lynnfield Art Guild, Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center.

The Lynnfield Art Guild (LAG) proudly continues its season with a demonstration of oil painting by Cape Ann artist Caleb Stone on Thursday, November 15 at 7:00 PM at the Lynnfield Senior Center, 525 Salem Street, Lynnfield. 

Caleb Stone, who is from a well-known artistic family, grew up in the artists’ colony of Rockport where he began his professional training. He studied with Don Stone and at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in Connecticut where is has achieved the status of Elected Artist.  Caleb is a representational and impressionist painter focusing on landscapes and marine scenes in New England. Although he works primarily in oil, he also paints in watercolor and pastel. 

Mr. Stone has exhibited in many national shows and his work can be found in many galleries throughout the United States, including Puerto Rico and in the Caleb Stone Gallery in Gloucester, MA.  He is a member of the North Shore Arts Association, Associate Member of the Copley Society, and a Life Member of the Rockport Art Association, among others.  Mr. Stone has received the Mariboe-Swift Memorial and the Wood Awards for Excellence in Watercolor from the Rockport Art Association, the New England Heritage Award from the Academic Artists Association of Springfield, MA and the John Stobart Fellowship Award from the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts. 

His work has been featured in “Cottage Living Magazine” (July 2005), “The Boston Globe Magazine” (5/22/05), “The Art of Mohegan Island” (published 2004), and two books on the “Best of Watercolor”: “Painting Light and Shadow” (1997); and “Painting Color” (1997). Caleb is a popular demonstrator and tutor, and holds several weeklong workshops annually in Monhegan Island, Maine. Further information is available at calebstoneart.com.

The public is invited to attend this and all monthly LAG demonstrations for the nominal fee of $3, which include refreshments and the opportunity to meet area artists.  The LAG has over 225 members in art, crafts and photography from over 25 area communities.  Membership includes the privilege of participating in the winter and spring annual shows.  The popular annual Holiday Arts & Crafts is coming up soon; please save will be held on Saturday December 8th; save the date for a great chance to purchase holiday gifts and support the many talented artists in the Guild!
