Local Family Finds Lost Dog After Three Months

Volunteers and family members continued searching in Saugus, Lynnfield and elsewhere throughout the fall.

A rescue dog first reported lost in the area several months ago was reported found on Wednesday night.

Bailey was five months old when he was first reported missing in September by a family that lives on Walnut Street in Saugus, near the Wakefield line. In the following days, some people reported spotted Bailey near the Christmas Tree Shop on Route 1 in Lynnfield. However, the dog was very skittish and evaded attempts to rescue it at that point.

On Thursday, Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem announced that Bailey had been recovered with a humane trap near a home in Melrose. The dog is reportedly "exhausted but looks fantastic" and also apparently has lyme disease. The dog is expected to stay at NEAS for now.
