The sun is back out and although the storm cleanup and frigid temperatures continue, our New Year's blizzard has largely concluded.

This latest storm now brings the total winter snowfall for Lynnfield to 33.5 inches this season. Almost all of the previous accumulation was recorded during storms on December 15th and 17th.

At 7:38 a.m. on Friday, the National Weather Service website had 12 inches in West Peabody, 10.5 inches in Melrose, and 13 inches in Wilmington. Leading communities for snowfall cited by the NWS included Boxford (23.8 inches) and Topsfield (23.5 inches). Nearby Salem and Lynn both had 15 inches reported.
