Craffey To Attend American Legion's Girls State

Annual gathering builds leadership skills.

American Legion Post 23 has selected Carly Craffey of Lynnfield as their representative to attend Massachusetts Girls State June 11-17.

This will be the 67th Annual Massachusetts Girls State to convene, and this year it will be at Stonehill College in Easton, Mass.   Three hundred young women from across the state will attend with  the goal of developing leadership skills, pride, patriotism,  American traditions, and they will learn to maintain our democratic processes in both local and state government.

The American Legion selection process is based on an interest in government and current events, high moral character, strong leadership abilities, above average standing in academics.  The goal of a Girls State citizen is to understand the rights of others and the value of hope, friendship and loyalty. Ms. Craffey is also a Girl Scout Ambassador in Lynnfield.
