A Week of Art for Teens!

There are still a few spaces for teens entering grades 7, 8, and 9 in one-week workshops in making handmade books, creating art from recycled materials, and sketching. The workshops meet for three hours each day from July 28 to August 1 at Pingree School in South Hamilton. The cost is $200 for each workshop.

In the bookmaking class, students will learn to create their own papers using a printing process, marbling, and their own digital photographs. They will then learn different binding techniques to create a journal, sketchbook, accordion book, and more.

Students in the art from recycled materials class will incorporate discarded objects and use sculpture, collage, and photographic techniques to create unique artwork.

Sketching students will explore the school's 100-acre campus each day as a group to find ideal spots to sketch "en plein air."

Creating Artist Books meets from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Art from Recycled Materials and Sketching en Plein Air both meet from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information or to register, go to www.pingree.org/nokids or call 978-468-4415 ext. 233.
