Registration Open for Girls' Middle School Volleyball

A look at what's coming up in and around Lynnfield.

Today is Tuesday, August 20. Here are five things worth knowing today.

A Note from Lynnfield Youth Sports Middle School Volleyball:  Registration for fall 2013 volleyball for girls going into 6th, 7th, and 8th grade is now open. If your daughter is interested in playing, please email lynnfieldvolleyball@gmail.com for a registration form and more information. Your daughter's registration must be received by August 31 to guarantee her a spot. Registrations after August 31 will be accepted on a space-available basis. The program runs approximately ten weeks, beginning immediately after Labor Day, every Tuesday and Thursday at Lynnfield High School. The girls will be divided into teams and will play either 6:00 - 7:30 or 7:30 - 9:00.

Lynnfield Children’s Trust Fundraiser: Steve DeFillippo, the Lynnfield native who founded Davio’s, noted during a stop at the Monday Lynnfield selectmen’s meeting that there’s a fundraiser at his new MarketStreet Lynnfield location Wednesday night from 6 to 9 p.m. for the Lynnfield Children’s Trust - $25 per person. On a side note, here’s a clip from earlier this year of Defillippo talking at a previous selectmen’s meeting about the difference between popular Southern-style Italian dishes and Northern Italian cuisine, which his restaurant specializes in.
