Party for 'Rumplestiltskin' Creator at Library Thursday

A look at what's coming up in and around Lynnfield.

Today is Thursday, January 16. Here are five things worth knowing today.

Thursday at 6:30 p.m. the Lynnfield Library has a kids’ party with stories and a craft to celebrate the birthday of Charles Parrault, creator of Rumplestiltskin, Tom Thumb, and other famous characters.

Friday evening, January 17th, Boston Sports Clubs holds a Kids Night Out event starting at 5:30 p.m. for ages 3 to 10. Non members welcome too. Click here to learn more.

From the Lynnfield Senior Center:  Margaret Bourke-White-This amazing lady was the 1st photographer for Fortune and Life magazines, 1st accredited WWII female photographer and the 1st westerner allowed in Russia 1930. She’s gone on bombing missions, been torpedo and has photographed such notables as Churchill, Patton and Stalin. Tues. Jan. 28th. Free. Please sign up. Presented by Sally Matson.

On Saturday, January 18 at 8 p.m., Betty’s Bounce, playing music in the style of Django Reinhardt, plays at Temple Emmanuel, 120 Chestnut Street in Wakefield. Tickets at the door $15 for adults, $10 for under 13.
