DESCRIPTION:Do you know Stone Zoo is home to a number of endangered speci
 es\, including jaguars\, Mexican gray wolves\, Panamanian golden frogs\,
  and hyacinth macaws? In order to promote awareness of the endangered an
 imals at the Zoo and across the world\, Stone Zoo is hosting its third A
 nnual Endangered Species Day Coloring &amp\; Writing Contest. Children a
 re invited to draw a picture of their favorite endangered species or wri
 te a short piece about the animal that details why it is endangered and 
 what we can do to help.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;   Entries are now being accepted i
 n the Animal Discovery Center until May 18 at 4:00 PM. The winners from 
 each age group will receive a certificate of recognition and the honor o
 f having their work framed and displayed in the Animal Discovery Center.
   Endangered Species Day is observed nationally by numerous agencies\, e
 nvironmental groups\, zoos\, parks\, aquariums\, wildlife refuges\, and 
 other organizations on the third Friday of May\, and is an opportunity f
 or people across the country to learn about the importance of protecting
  our nation&rsquo\;s wildlife.\n&nbsp\;\nWHO: Kids ages 3-10 are welcome
  to participate and will be judged in three age groups (ages 3-4\, ages 
 5-7\, ages 8-10).\n&nbsp\;\nRULES:&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nb
 sp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;\n1. Submissions (one per person) must b
 e on standard 8 &frac12\; x 11 inch paper (letter size).\n2. Pictures mu
 st include your favorite endangered species and should be done in pencil
 \, crayon\, or marker. NO chalk\, paint\, glue\, or computer illustratio
 ns.\n3. Written pieces can be presented in the form of a paragraph\, poe
 m\, acrostic\, or any other creative delivery and should be typed or nea
 tly hand-written.\n4. Entries are due to the Animal Discover Center no l
 ater than 4:00 PM on Friday\, May 18.
