The Lynnfield Middle School Pioneer Singers were at Gillette Stadium last Saturday, May 11, to perform the National Anthem before the New England Revolution played against the New York Red Bulls. This year the singers are marking their 15th year with Director Stephen Bloom.    
On Wednesday evening, members of Lynnfield Cub Scout Pack 47 held their community service night, bagging up and discarding of trash at three of the town's parks - Jordan, Newhall and Glen Meadow. Thanks to Lauren West for sharing the photo.

Members of the Lynnfield High School National Honor Society held a monthlong food drive. The donation will be made to Haven From Hunger. Congratulations to the Lynnfield Girls U10 Lynx Soccer team, which won the Beverly Indoor Championship Soccer Tournament this past weekend and went undefeated for this session.
Selectman Bob MacKendrick was out campaigning this week for the April 8th town election and picked up an unexpected endorsement.
Summer Street School Fourth Grade Student Council ran a food drive for the local Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry. The students collected non-perishable items along with paper products. In total they filled five grocery baskets for the food pantry. Three Lynnfield students were selected to perform in this year’s Massachusetts Music Educators' Association Northeastern District Junior Festival.  The students auditioned with over 900 students from more than ninety public and private schools in northeastern Massachusetts.  Their concert was held on Saturday, March 23rd at Lowell High School.  L to R:  Janna Sokolow, Frederick Plante and Ally Peters performed in the District Festival choruses.

Lynnfield 5th grader John Simonetti and his sister Rachel, a senior at Lynnfield High School, went to a Celtics game this week in Boston and brought back the following photos. The Celtics beat the Toronto Raptors that night, 112-88.
The Fourth Grade Student Council at Summer Street School organized a coat drive in February for Cradles to Crayons. New and gentlly used coats, hats, gloves and mittens were collected and donated during the month of  February. A total of 30 large bags of clothing were dropped off at a local site by Mrs. Jameson. During the month of March they are organizing a can food drive for a local food pantry.

Lynnfield has a fair amount of wildlife if you know where to look - but sometimes, you don't need to even leave the house to spot it. Lynnfield resident Jenna Zanni photographed these two young deer in her yard as they stopped by to snack on some holly.
The MKDS Diva Dancers from Miss Krystn’s Dance Studio in Wakefield performed at the TD Garden at last Wednesday night’s Boston Celtics vs. Chicago Bulls game. “We love providing opportunities for our dancers that extend outside the studio walls. The Hasty Pudding Theatricals at Harvard College hosted its annual Woman of the Year Roast on Thursday, January 31 for French actress Marion Cotillard. President of the HPT, Renee Rober, a 2009 Lynnfield High School graduate, and HPT Vice President Ben Moss roasted Marion, who responded with humor and grace. Marion Cotillard won an Academy award for her role as Edith Piaf in “Ma Vie En Rose”. “Midnight in Paris”, “Contagion” and “The Dark Knight Rises” are among her other films. Girl Scouts Claire Planton and Emily Precourt of Troop 60528 brave the elements Saturday to sell Girl Scout cookies in South Lynnfield. Lynnfield resident Dick Shafner sent in this image from a recent flight that he took over the area. The photo shows the MarketStreet at Lynnfield development and the area near Walnut Street and Salem Street heading toward Wakefield. The view is from about 1,300 feet up, reports Shafner. Last summer, Shafner sent in another aerial shot of the MarketStreet at Lynnfield development, from about 1,200 feet up. A look back at this image shows just far the project has come in a relatively short period of time.
The last couple of winters have been tough from a photography perspective. The New England landscape just calls out for some snow this time of year. But with no snow on the horizon, I'm reminded of one of the earliest outdoor photo galleries to run on this website, from that (briefly) epic winter of 2010-2011. With temperatures expected to rise into the 40s in the coming days, I'm not sure when I'll get to throw the term "Terra Arctica" around again like that. The Lynnfield Middle School Pioneer Singers returned to Boston's historic King's Chapel for a holiday performance on Tuesday, December 11th .  The concert marked the group’s seventh appearance at the historic venue.
