Local woman started bow Wow! dog walking service earlier this year. Serves Wakefield, Lynnfield, Melrose and Stoneham.
Local resident Nancy Dow has turned a lifelong love of animals into a new business serving area pet owners - The bow Wow! dog walking service, serving residents of Wakefield, Lynnfield, Melrose and Stoneham. Dow and her husband Alexander are Wakefield residents who own two dogs, one of them a recently rescued labrador retriever, she told Patch.com in a recent phone conversation. "I was the kid that would always play with all the dogs in the neighborhood," said Dow, adding that she got her first dog at age 10 when a cousin went away to college. Dow reports that she has taken a small pet CPR/First Aid course, and her one-person business is bonded and insured. Along with dog walking, she also offers overnight pet sitting services. The pet …

Each week, Lynnfield Patch takes a look at a distinctive home on the market in town.
I think some folks are bound to know what I mean when I call this house at 674 Main Street "an American Classic." It's real. That huge porch. The nice big yard. A barn out back. Construction Year: 1900. If there's an apple tree anywhere on the grounds, I like it even more. This is the sort of place that begs for a cold lemonade after you're done mowing the lawn, he waxed whimsically on a late Friday afternoon. It invokes thoughts of past generations and of great holiday gatherings perhaps. But here's what it really reminds me of - It's the sort of house where Ray Bradbury would have set one of his legendary stories in, if that obscure mention makes any sense whatsoever here. So here's a bit more - the living room has a fireplace and a …

Looking for a new home in Lynnfield? See if one of these catches your eye.
Results from a recent executive survey ranked Massachusetts 47th for business.
A CEO magazine ranks Massachusetts as one of the worst states in the nation for business. Chief Executive Magazine ranked Massachusetts 47th based on a survey of corporate leaders. Survey respondents reported the Bay State is one of the worst for taxation and regulation. The state Republican Party is pointing to the survey and saying that Gov. Deval Patrick and the Democratic-led Legislature are bad for the economy and business. What do you think about Massachusetts’ business climate? Is this a good state in which to do business?

Looking for a new or used sports car? Here are some options.
If you're in the market for a new sports car, there are vehicles for sale locally. Check out these options below: 1. 2011 Porche Panamera 4S, $71,900 This jet-black (is that an oxymoron?) coupe is justly described as a "head turner" by the dealer, Automall Collection in Peabody. It has 35,880 miles on it and is under the factory warranty for the balance of what's left of that warranty. For more, visit AOL Autos. 2. 2013 MINI Hardtop John Cooper Works, $39,950 I don't know if there's a serious debate about whether MINIs are sports cars. But there's no doubt the souped-up top of the line MINI, the John Cooper Works edition, counts as a sports car. MINI of Peabody has a variety of models in this trim, including this one in "thunder gray" …

Project is in very early stages - Lynnfield Rotary set to provide financial support for materials, local vocational school students would do the work.
Many details remain to be finalized, but a gazebo may be on or near Lynnfield Common within a year. Nan Hockenbury, chair of the Lynnfield Historical Commission and the Lynnfield Historical Society, told Lynnfield Patch Monday that the gazebo was initially proposed several years ago and remains in its very early planning stages. Lynnfield selectmen reportedly voted Monday night to have the project go forward, she added. The Lynnfield Rotary has indicated that it will provide financial support for the project - with the costs primarily limited to the building materials. Students at North Shore Technical High School in Middleton and Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School in Wakefield could do the design and building work, added …

A round up of North Shore restaurant and food news.
When you're looking for a night out and a break from cooking, you might want to know what's new not only where you live, but also in other North Shore communities. Here's our round up of the area's latest food news: We've reported recently about the reopening of The Ship, the unmistakeable Route 1 landmark. This week we uncovered a relic of that restaurant's precursor, the Ship's Haven. While searching eBay, we came across a 1930s era menu from the local landmark. Word is that the current restaurant's management ended up purchasing the menu, which will be added to a small collection of relics there from those early days. The whole North Shore is abuzz over Beverly native Angie Miller, who has made the top three in "American Idol." Among …
