Popular Wakefield eatery Slice Pizza and More closed for renovations last August. Re-opening is today.
A popular Wakefield eatery is back open on Wednesday, following a nearly eight-month hiatus. Slice Pizza and More now shares building space with the Prime gas station at the junction of Salem and Lowell Streets, steps away from the site of the former building where it was originally located. Paul and John Cucinatti, two cousins from Winchester, first opened Slice back in the fall of 2009. While this is their first business, other family members run the restaurant Orzo in North Andover. In a conversation Tuesday with Wakefield Patch, John Cucinatti reported that with the exception of a few new additions, the menu has not changed. "We're just looking forward to serving our great pizza and seeing all our customers - and new customers," said …
Robert Rudowsky plans to give Kernwood Liquors a more upscale feel, expects to close for renovations for a couple of weeks.
The new owner of Kernwood Liquors on Salem Street in Lynnfield was at the selectmen's meeting Monday night for approval of a liquor license transfer. Robert Rudowsky and his attorney, Richard Savastano, indicated that the business will close for renovations for about two weeks - with new shelving, floors and a more upscale feel in general planned. Rudowsky said to selectmen that Kernwood Liquors is currently more of a "classic package store," but he plans to make the business "more like what (Lynnfield) is accustomed to," and also more attractive to customers of other adjoining businesses. At the outset, the business will be run by Rudowsky and the one employee he has hired so far.
Recently re-opened restaurant on Route 1 in Lynnfield expects to offer light music for dining patrons.
The recently re-opened Ship restaurant on Route 1 in Lynnfield gained approval from the selectmen this week for light musical entertainment such as a pianist, singer, or violinist. Representatives from the restaurant, including owner Nino Micozzi, were at Monday's selectmen's meeting to field questions from town officials. General Manager John Shelpak indicated that the planned music "is not anything that would be loud or blasting - It would be for the benefit of patrons having dinner." It remains to be seen if the piano will work out with the current layout of the restaurant. Restaurant representatives also raised the possibility of having a singer or violinist in a veranda so they could also be heard by shoppers in the adjoining parking …

Thanks to Chris Carino for providing this information: Peabody natives Andy Brancato and Dave Raymond recently opened the Men’s Spa at the Mansion at 187 Lake Street to give men “a place of their own” to go for high-end grooming treatments. They’ve created a male-friendly environment in the historic wooded mansion overlooking Suntaug Lake. At the spa, guys can shoot pool, read the news on an iPad, watch the game on a flat screen TV, or purchase a cigar to smoke on the deck overlooking the lake before receiving a top-of-line grooming treatment. The salon offers a full array of high-quality salon services, including haircuts and high-quality hair color, manicures, pedicures, and hot-towel shaves. “Guys want to enjoy the services that girls …

Claims are being accepted through June 15, and funds will start being distributed on a rolling basis on June 30.
Boston Marathon bombing victims being treated as outpatients at Boston-area hospitals are eligible to receive One Fund Boston payments. Claims are now being accepted through June 15, and the money will start being handed out on June 30 on a rolling basis, according to One Fund Boston's website. The final protocol and prioritization for victims was also released through the website. Individual death claims, double amputees and those who suffered permanent brain damage are the top priority. Previously, One Fund Boston administrator Kenneth Feinberg had estimated the families of the three victims who died from the bombings could receive $1 million. "Money is a pretty poor substitute," said Feinberg at one of the Town Hall meetings held to …

Each week, Lynnfield Patch takes a look at an interesting and/or distinctive property currently on the market.
Most weeks while doing the Home of the Week column, I resist the temptation to highlight the most expensive places on the market because there can be a huge difference between "expensive" and "interesting and distinctive." Here's an exception that just went on the market at 5 Ashley Court in Lynnfield however. It's an 8,000 square foot estate, described in the listing as "palatial and meticulously maintained." Along with all that living space, there's a three-quarter of an acre lot to unwind on. There's a chef's kitchen, a second-story atrium with good natural light, a formal dining room complete with a butler's pantry, a couple of hut tubs, and an entertainment room with a bar. This also happens to be the only real estate listing I've …
