The members of 16 Jewish women’s organizations will join together for a social evening featuring acclaimed Israeli storyteller Noa Baum on Monday, January 30, 2012, at 7 p.m. at Temple Ner Tamid, Peabody. Sponsored by the Combined Jewish Women’s Organizations of the North Shore, the program is funded by each of the participating organizations as well by grants from the Jewish Women’s Endowment Fund and the North Shore Israel Fund of the Jewish Federation of the North Shore (JFNS).
Baum’s performance, entitled “A Land Twice Promised,” is based on her heartfelt dialogue with a Palestinian woman while living in the United States, and weaves together each of their memories as well as stories from their mothers.
The organizations sponsoring the event include: Shalom Hadassah, Chabad Lubavitch of Peabody, ORT America, Inc., Congregation Shirat Hayam, Temple Beth Shalom, Congregation Ahabat Sholom, Mikvah B’not Yisrael, JFNS Women’s Division, and the Sisterhoods of Temples Ner Tamid, Shalom, Emmanuel, B’nai Abraham, Sinai, Sons of Israel, Emanu-El, Beth Shalom.
According to Peabody’s Lois Black, who has been involved in planning the event for several years as a representative of Shalom Hadassah, there is great energy in gathering so many women together for an evening.
“There are a wide variety of organizations represented each year and each focuses on different things,” notes Black, “but for this one night, these diverse groups come together as one, strengthening our bonds.”
The evening is free and open to all. For more information, contact Arlyne Greenspan at 978-224-4903 or email@example.com. Snow date is February 1.
