Winners in three categories named the new "Lynnfield Idol" winners. Town-wide singing contest is held every two years.
Thanks to Michelle Harris for providing this information: Finals for Lynnfield Idol were held at the High School on Wednesday evening, Marcy 27th. The event drew a large and raucous crowd who enthusiastic cheered on the contestants. The adult winner was Linda Maglio, who performed beautiful renditions of "Moondance" and "I Love Rock and Roll." Linda received six hours of recording time at Mixed Emotions recording studio, two tickets to a North Shore Music Theater production, and a gift card to the 99 Restaurant. The high school division winner was Alyssa Adario, who sang heartfelt versions of "Broken" and "Sweet Dreams." Nancy O’Brien Demonstrates Portrait Oil Painting at Lynnfield Art Guild Meeting Thursday, March 21 at 7 p.m. at the Lynnfield Senior Center.
The following was provided by the Lynnfield Art Guild: Nancy Bradley O’Brien, a local artist from Stoneham, will demonstrate and talk about her painting process at the Lynnfield Art Guild meeting at the Lynnfield Senior Center, 525 Salem Street. in Lynnfield on Thursday March 21 at 7 p.m. The event is open to members of the guild and the general public. Her medium is oil paint with a specialty in portraiture and landscapes. Nancy O’Brien began painting as a young woman at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education and also studied at the deCordova Museum School in Lincoln MA. Following this week's Lynnfield Idol semifinals, the following town residents are heading to the town-wide competition, which only comes around every two years. Judges in the competition are Kenny Lewis (owner and producer, Mixed Emotions Music), Karen Nascembeni (PR director of the North Shore Music Theater) and Tom Page (music supervisor, producer, and composer). Each year, the Lynnfield Library hosts the Art in Bloom exhibit, featuring the work of local artists and gardeners.
This week at the Lynnfield Library, the Lynnfield Home and Garden Club and Lynnfield Art Guild presented the annual Art in Bloom exhibit. The exhibit runs until Friday and features artwork paired with floral arrangements. Check out this photo gallery to take a look at some of the works down at the library this week!

Longtime conductor, educator returns to Lynnfield this spring for more lectures on American musical greats.
The Lynnfield Library has announced that musical educator and composer William C. Sarno will soon return for another series at the Old Meeting House featuring lectures on famous American musical performers. For about 45 years, Sarno has worked as a pianist, organist, vocal teacher and choral conductor. Each lecture runs from 10 a.m. to noon at the Old Meeting House on the following Thursday mornings: Ethel Merman (April 4th), Perry Como (April 11th), Barbara Streisand (May 2) and Bing Crosby (May 9). All are welcome, no registration is required and the lectures are free. The lectures are sponsored by the Friends of the Lynnfield Library. Call 781-334-5411 for more information.

Noel Smith and her musical students put on a funny concert each year to benefit a local nonprofit.
Professional singer and Lynnfield resident Noel Smith announced this week that she and her students are having their annual Musical Hysterics concert on Sunday, March 10th at 3 p.m. at Centre Congregational Church. All proceeds from the concert benefit Gathering Change, the local nonprofit that supports area food pantries by collecting thousands of dollars each year in donated pocket change. "The students perform Hysterically funny songs from various musical theatre shows etc. and it is just a funny funny concert. We donate all the money to the organization as well," said Smith in an email to Lynnfield Patch. Smith reports that she has 21 students in the show, ranging in age from 14 to their 30s. Last weekend, students at Lynnfield High School held their annual "Sweet Jazz" concert. Members of the LHS Pioneer band and the jazz band, as well as the Lynnfield Middle School Jazz Band, both performed in the fundraising event.
