LHS Pops Concert Is Wednesday, May 23

Pops concert will also include student induction into the Tri-M Music Honor Society.

The following is an announcement from the Lynnfield High School Music Department: On Wednesday, May 23 at 7 pm the Lynnfield High School Music Department will present its annual Pops Concert, showcasing both its band and choral programs.  Choral groups performing will be under the direction of High School Choral Director Douglas Hodgkins, and instrumental groups will perform under the direction of High School Band Director Thomas Westmoreland.  The concert will be held in the High School Auditorium and is free and open to the public.  During the concert, students accepted into the Tri-M Music Honor Society will be announced and formally inducted as Tri-M Society members.  After the concert, a short special awards ceremony will be held in …

LHS Grad To Star In Hello, Dolly! And Annie At NSMT

Broadway performer Jacquelyn Piro Donovan reportedly filling in for injured Lorna Luft as Dolly in upcoming North Shore Music Theatre run. Also appearing in "Annie" there in July.

Former Lynnfield resident and LHS grad Jacquelyn Piro Donovan, a prominent Broadway performer, will reportedly be making a homecoming of sorts this summer with roles in Hello, Dolly! and Annie at the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly. According to a recent report on the theater news website Playbill.com and elsewhere, Donovan will fill in for Lorna Luft, who was initially cast as Dolly Levi in the upcoming run. The website quoted Luft as saying that due to an injury, she is currently in a back brace and is using a cane. Donovan's Wikipedia page states that over the past couple of decades, her numerous theater credits have included the national tours of Les Miserables, Sunset Boulevard, Big, The Secret Garden, and Miss Saigon. Lynnfield Middle School students sang the American and Canadian national anthems Saturday evening before New England Revolution game at Gillette Stadium.

The Lynnfield Middle School Pioneer Singers were at Gillette Stadium on Saturday evening, May 12th, to sing the national anthem before the New England Revolution MLS Soccer game. According to LMS Music Director Stephen Bloom, this occasion marked the fifth time the Pioneer Singers have appeared at Gillette Stadium - and on Saturday night, they sang in front of more than 12,000 people. The Revolution went on to win the game 4-1 over the Vancouver Whitecaps.

VOTE: Video Battle of the Bands Final Round

Choose your favorite out of the six finalists.

Twenty-four submissions are now down to six finalists competing to take the top prize in Patch's Video Battle of the Bands. Six bands and individuals, ranging the gamut from rock to rap, square off to see who will win the grand prize, which includes headlining a show at the Harp in Boston in June. The top two vote getters from each regional competition who are now in the finals are: Forget the Former and The Truezoos from the North Shore/Merrimack Valley regional round. The President featuring L.E.S White and Scotty and the Gang from the Greater Boston regional round. Video Battle of the Bands: North Shore/Merrimack Valley Winners

Find out who won the Patch Battle of the Bands in Merrimack Valley and the North Shore.

Aspiring rock stars in the Merrimack Valley and North Shorth put out their music to thousands in Patch's Video Battle of the Bands and the fans have spoken. The regional round of the battle has now concluded and two bands will go on to the finalist round. Winning first place with 204 votes is Forget the Former - “I Would Have Lost” with band members Bobby Briggs of Westford; Daniel Daley of Tewksbury; and Ben Hanson of Lowell. Forget the Former wins two hours of recording time at The Space in Lowell. Coming in second place with 177 votes is The Truezoos – “I’ll Keep This One” with band members Sean O’Sullivan and Marc Hoffman of Georgetown; and Jeff Kereakoglow of Danvers. The regional round of Patch's Video Battle of the Bands contest has ended, and we have our winners, with two bands moving on to the final round with a chance to win a rockstar prize pack! Winning first place is The President featuring L.E.S White -- "You Can Change That," with band member Nicholas Kermelewicz of Wakefield. The President wins two hours of recording time at Oak Grove Recording in Malden. Patch Video Battle of the Bands 2012 is here! More than 20 bands from across Eastern Massachusetts submitted videos of original songs over the past two weeks to multiple area Patch sites in hopes of taking home the top prize. First off is a regional round in which we pit bands and musicians from the North Shore and Merrimack Valley against one another. They will square off to win bragging rights in the area, a cool prize and a chance to go to the final round and win a rockstar prize pack! An Evening Of A Cappella

Singers from Lynnfield High School will be among those participating in May 4th event at Wakefield High School.

American audiences are addicted – to listening to one another sing.  It started ten years ago with the American Idol show, then ramped up three years ago when Glee and The Sing-off debuted.  This year we’re mesmerized with The Voice, especially since WHS grad James Massone made it so far in the competition.  On Friday evening, May 4 you’ll have the opportunity to marvel at some other new voices, as an a cappella event showcasing regional high school talent will take place in the new theater space at Wakefield High School.  The event is two-fold, to showcase the students and to raise some funds to help retire the loan which the Center for Performing Arts incurred in order to finish the construction of the new theater.
