What's Going On In Lynnfield This Weekend
Geraniumfest on Saturday, Cystic Fibrosis Walk on Sunday. Tonight, a reception for the artists in the Lynnfield Art Guild show.
There’s a handful of different activities taking place in Lynnfield this weekend. Here’s a look at what’s going on:
Breakfast At The Ninety-Nine: This one is somewhat time sensitive because if you want to attend this Saturday morning event, you need to get your tickets Friday for $5 at the Lynnfield Senior Center on Salem Street. The Friends of the Lynnfield Senior Center have their annual all-you-can eat pancake breakfast fundraiser at the Ninety-Nine Restaurant Saturday morning from 8 to 10 a.m. But again, tickets are not sold the day of the breakfast.
Lynnfield Art Guild: On Friday evening, the public is also welcome to attend a reception at Centre Congregational Church for the artists in the Lynnfield Art Guild annual spring fine arts and crafts judged exhibit. The reception is from 7 to 9 p.m. and the artwork will be on display throughout Geraniumfest on Saturday as well, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
As noted in this business feature last week, the new Studio Poise marks its grand opening this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Drop by the Salem Street fitness business to meet owner Danielle Roback and to check out one of the demonstration classes featured this weekend.
Geraniumfest: The 25th annual Geraniumfest takes place on the town common from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The popular event features plenty of food, local trolley tours (10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) vendors and more, and there are a few scheduled events during the day to take note of.
The Leafy Discovery Challenge, which highlights the benefits of trees, runs from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and includes a chance to win a tree.
At 10 a.m., you can check out the garden down the street at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, which has reportedly been growing with help from rain barrels.
At 11 a.m., the town’s tree committee holds its annual Arbor Day observation, which will include a flag to commemorate Lynnfield’s status as a Tree City USA.
Friends Of The Library Book Sale: Another thing to keep an eye out for at Geraniumfest is the annual FOLL book sale, which offers a wide selection of used books, CDs and DVDs – as long as you get there early of course.
At 10 a.m. on the Lynnfield Common, the annual Great Strides Cystic Fibrosis walk takes place. More information can be found here.
At 2 p.m. at Centre Congregational Church, Jake Kochocki, Mike Welter, Cam Drugan and Dan Braconnier are recognized as the town’s newest Eagle Scouts at their court of honor. Congratulations to them.
PAWS 4 A Cure: Another thing going happening nearby Sunday is the 5th annual PAWS 4 A Cure Walk, at 1 p.m. around Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield. The organization helps raise money for cat and dog owners facing difficulty with veterinary bills. For more information about the organization, visit their website here.
