Walnut Street Traffic Lights Expected To Be Activated Today
Traffic lights were set up several months ago. State DPW expected to activate them on Thursday. Motorists advised to pay attention to new traffic patterns as well there.
The long-awaited traffic lights on Walnut Street are expected to be be activated on Thursday, according to an announcement from the Lynnfield Police Department.
The lights were set up near the entrance to the Market Street at Lynnfield project in anticipation of the traffic changes the project is expected to bring when its first tenants open up next year.
"Please use caution when driving through this area and pay attention to the traffic patterns that will change with the activation of the lights," the Lynnfield Police Department requested of area residents in a statement this week. "Also, pay close attention to pedestrians and crosswalk locations that have changed with the newly painted lanes. The change will initially create confusion to some. Therefore, please drive slowly through the area in an effort to keep Lynnfield safe for motorists and pedestrians alike."
