VIDEO: Sarah Pothier Sings At Lynnfield 9/11 Memorial
Niece of Ace Bailey lends her talents to town's community memorial service.
One of the special guests at the Lynnfield 9/11 memorial service on Sunday evening was Sarah Pothier, the niece of Ace Bailey. Bailey was the former NHL player and Lynnfield resident who died in the terrorist attacks of 9/11.
In this video clip, Pothier, a resident of East Providence, Rhode Island, shares her remarkable soprano voice, performing "You Raise Me Up," by Brendan Graham and Rolf Lovland. On the piano is Douglas Hodgkins, leader of the event's community choir and the music director at Lynnfield High School.
"The ceremony was really personal and touching," Pothier told Lynnfield Patch after the service, "It was a great way for the community to show support for the people we lost."
Joining Pothier in Lynnfield on Sunday was Kathy Bailey, Ace's widow, who shared some memories of living in Lynnfield, learning of the attacks for the first time, and going on to build the Ace Bailey Children's Foundation, which works to help hospitalized children.
