Spring Cleaning May Kick Up Some Loose Change

Local nonprofit collects change to be donated to local food pantries.

An explosion of arboreal color revives and entertains these mid weeks of spring inspiring many of us to clean, sort and organize our homes.  As you ruffle through your closets, drawers and car, keep an eye out for change that can be transformed from mere quarters, dimes, pennies and nickels to jars of peanut butter and bags of lentils.

How can this happen?  A local non-profit organization called Gathering Change, Inc. takes change and turns it into food.  Since 2008, GCI has collected spare change for community food pantries and has raised over $78,000, the majority of which has been coins.

In the process of your spring cleaning, if you hear clinking in the pockets of winter coats and trousers or discover forgotten coins on the floor of your car, consider donating the change to GCI.  Every little bit helps!  We will pick up your coins, no matter how much or how little.
