RMLD: Electric Meter Replacement Continues In Lynnfield
RMLD continuing to replace residential electric meters in Lynnfield and elsewhere in service area.
The following is an announcement from Reading Municipal Light Department:
Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) continues to replace residential electric meters throughout its service territory, an ongoing project set for completion in early 2013. The process includes removing the existing meter and installing a new, upgraded meter.
Through December, RMLD personnel will continue to replace meters in Lynnfield. Please see the work area maps on the RMLD website, www.rmld.com or accompanying this information.
Customers whose meters require replacement will experience a brief outage of five minutes or less during the upgrade. RMLD personnel will attempt to notify each customer by knocking on the front door of individual residences immediately before the meters are changed. Notices will be placed in the common area and on exterior doors of all apartment buildings in advance of the meter replacement. RMLD technicians, who carry a picture ID, will work between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, weather permitting.
Scheduling information will be posted on the RMLD website and in the Lynnfield written and online newspapers before the work begins.
“We have experienced a very fluid process, but there is a possibility that areas scheduled for replacement may be rescheduled. We thank our customers for their patience during this project,” said RMLD’s Engineering and Operations Manager Kevin Sullivan.
“The meters scheduled for replacement are approximately 15 years old and are reaching the end of their useful life,” Sullivan added. “The new meters will improve both efficiency and reliability, and will also offer the possibility of providing enhanced energy usage information to customers. If your meter has been replaced within the past few years, it may not need to be changed.”
Please visit the RMLD website at www.rmld.com for further details, including a map of the scheduled areas. Any questions or concerns should be directed to RMLD Customer Service at 781-944-1340 or 781-942-6598.
