Red-Headed Freckles is a Sweet Young Boy right out of Mayberry RFD

Freckles is PAWS Pet of the Week

Red-Headed Freckles is a Sweet Young Boy right out of Mayberry RFD

I may look like a fiery red head, but believe me, I am as mellow as can be.  I was abandoned by my owners when they moved, but being so sweet, I found my way to some nice neighbors, who noticed I looked lost and forlorn, and rescued me.  Now I am at PAWS’ adoption center at the Danvers PetSmart.  Life here is ok, but, well, a sweet guy like me needs company.  This place sure gets lonely at night when everyone leaves and the lights go off.  Can you come adopt me?  I promise I will slide easily into your life.

As I said, I am the sweetest, mellowest orange tabby you will ever meet.  I love to curl up for naps—any cozy place will do.  If you want to hear my purr, all you have to do is pet me.  I’ll purr even louder if you brush my hair.  By the way, I conveniently come with my own, personal grooming brush.

I get along well with other cats, so I know I could fit into any kind of family with or without pets.  I am not picky.  All I want is your love and companionship.  I will take whoever and whatever comes along with that.

Oh, did I mention I have freckles?  If you look at my picture you can see them on my nose.  I think they are kind of cute on me don’t you?  Why not pop over to Pet Smart for a visit to see me in person?  It would be fun to have a visitor and then we can get to know one another. Oh, and by the way, I will love you even if you don’t have freckles.  I have enough for both of us!

If you are interested in learning more about Freckles, or any of our other available cats and dogs, contact PAWS at (781) 246-6111 or PAWSwakefield@yahoo.com or visit our website www.pawswakefield.org.  You can also meet many of our cats at our weekly adoption hours at VCA Wakefield Animal Hospital (Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) or at the Danvers PetSmart (Thursdays and Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.).  Different animals will be at each location.  Freckles is at the PetSmart in Danvers.

On Saturday, October 6th, PAWS will be participating in PETCO’s Oktoberfest Adopt-a-thon.  Join us at the Woburn PETCO from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to meet with our adoption counselors and hopefully find your new best friend. Or, bring along your own adopted pet and share your stories.  PETCO will have free gifts and other specials to help celebrate forever homes for our pets.

About this column: Each week, Patch will feature an adoptable pet needing a home from PAWS, an all-volunteer animal welfare organization based in Wakefield, MA. Founded by Esther Nowell in 1982, PAWS responds to animal-related needs in many communities north of Boston. The PAWS service areas includes Wakefield, Lynnfield, Reading, North Reading, Saugus, Stoneham, Woburn, Winchester, and Malden. PAWS' mission is to promote and protect the rights and well-being of all domestic animals and wildlife, and foster a greater understanding of animal welfare and animal rights through education. PAWS receives no local, state or federal funding - the budget is completely funded by membership dues, adoption services, annual fundraising efforts, and kind donations from friends and members.
