PHOTOS: Alexander Peters Memorial Softball Tournament
Annual one-pitch softball tournament raised $12,000 for local scholarships and also for Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
Last weekend, many town residents turned out for the annual Alexander Peters Memorial One-Pitch Softball Tournament, held in memory of a 2005 LHS graduate who died in a drunk driving crash.
Before the tournament, Alexander's father, Nick Peters, spoke with Lynnfield Patch about his son and the fundraising event that bears his name. You can read more about the tournament at this link. This year, tournament participants raised about $12,000, providing two LHS seniors with $1,000 scholarships and also raising money for Mothers Against Drunk Driving. These photos show the various winning teams from the tournament, and the one above shows Mr. Peters with comedian Lenny Clarke, who was also at the event.

Thank you, Ashleigh. I am so very grateful for your support, your PATIENCE and your assistance with the website and the program application. What an amazing woman you are!! Ashleigh, our pride in you is beyond words. I am constantly thanking God for you. I wish there were words to express the depth of our love for you.
There are so very, many people to thank in helping to pull this event off. It's always done without a hitch because of the caring and willingness of family and friends. My indelible gratitude to the cooks who are so often overlooked. Their diligent efforts are worth a million dollars. Especially, in the searing heat and humidity and never, ever a complaint!!!! These men and women have mastered the perfect timing from unloading and setting up, through cooking a "right-on-time-schedule" to feed everyone from players, umpires volunteers, entertainers and those who just visit the event. Over 200 hundred people!!! These folks are working from 9am straight through to breaking it all back down, cleaning up and repacking. This is usually until till 4pm!!! To, JIM IACONO, BILLY WILSON, STEVE PUPPO AND FRANK WHITCOMB, please know what a tremendous blessing you all are to this event. You are as important as the event itself, as it would not be as prosperous without your gracious efforts. Your friendship and precious time is a valued gift. Truly, you are my unsung heros. May God abundantly bless you and yours.

Thanks for commenting - I greatly admire your family for its ability to take something so terrible and bring some semblance of positivity for others from it.

Bill,
Thank you. I also thank you for your encouragement and support and your readiness to add our efforts, interviews and articles to "The Patch". It is my deepest hope that the more exposure of the deadly consequences from drunk driving recieves, the less loss of our loved ones will result, therein.
