When you think about it, you don't often get to see dragonflies up close (Is it me or does that sound like an obscure Kung Fu form?), in part because they rarely seem to stay in one place long enough. These three specimens were hanging out on a plant one day during a photography expedition to Suntaug Lake. Their unique blue color was enough to make me stop and get a photo. I don't know what type they are, but this variety can also be spotted while kayaking on the Ipswich River.

Thanks! I've been a fan of them myself ever since I saw a handful of them single-handedly eliminate a cloud of little bugs up in northern Maine one evening...
