On Wednesday morning, more than 250 runners took part in the Lynnfield Athletic Association's annual 5k road race. The event helps raise funds for scholarships as well as the athletic programs at Lynnfield High School.

This year, 21-year-old Sean Hanlon of Georgetown won the race, while Mark Hudson, 25, finished 5th to lead all runners from Lynnfield. A full list of those who finished, plus their times and home towns, can be viewed here on the Cool Running website. Interestingly, the 19th place finisher in the race, Tim Moss, listed Wollongong, Australia as his home town. All other participants were either from Massachusetts or New Hampshire.

Also, as noted in this article from May, the future of this race depends on finding some new volunteers to join the Lynnfield Athletic Association.

Thank you to all the participated either by running, donating, sponsoring or volunteering. It turned out to be a great day even though it started out a little wet.
It is a wonderful community event that hopefully will continue in the years to come.
If anyone is interested in helping with getting sponsorships for next year's race please feel free to contact Linda Rugato @ linda.rugato@verizon.net.
