A Lynnfield woman has joined in an effort to send handmade paper snowflakes to decorate a new school for children in Newtown, Connecticut.

A mass shooting on December 14th left 26 victims dead, most of them elementary school students. Following the killings, Newtown’s school officials decided to move the rest of the students back to a former school building in the area rather than have them go back to school at the actual scene.

In Connecticut, the Connecticut PTSA website includes “Snowflakes For Sandy Hook” where, among other ways of showing their support, people can mail their paper snowflakes. A “Snowflakes for Sandy Hook” Facebook page can be viewed here.

In Lynnfield, Christine Reardon reports that she and her kids have been making and collecting a bunch of snowflakes to send to the school. She told Lynnfield Patch in a recent email that anybody interesting in dropping off some snowflakes of their own can do so at 36 Lynnbrook Road on Wednesday, Dec. 26 from 4 to 8 p.m, Sunday, Dec. 30 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday, Jan. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon – weather permitting. Snowflakes can be mailed to Christine or dropped off in a box at her doorstep.
