Lynnfield Unemployment Hovering Just Under 5%

Lynnfield’s unemployment rate has been holding fairly steady at just under 5% in recent months, although the current numbers remain slightly higher than during the first quarter of the year.

The local unemployment rate compares favorably to the statewide average, which is 6.4%, according to state data. As of August, Lynnfield’s unemployment rate was 4.7%, down from 4.9% in July. However, the town unemployment rate sank as low as 4.2% in March before creeping back up slightly. The highest Lynnfield unemployment rate recorded in 2012 was 5.2% in February.
