Lynnfield Fire Chief Announces Plans to Retire

Chief Joseph Lingel has served on the Lynnfield Fire Department for 44 years.

Lynnfield Fire Chief Joseph Lingel informed selectmen in a letter this week that he plans to retire as of August 14, 2013.

Lingel became chief last summer after former Chief Tom Bogart retired from that position. Chief Lingel is also the town's emergency management director.

In a short letter to Town Administrator Bill Gustus, Lingel stated the following:

"Effective August 14, 2013, I will be resigning from my position as Chief of the Lynnfield Fire Department. Effective the same date, I will be retiring from the Lynnfield Fire Department after 44 years of service."
