LMS Students Prevail In Educational Game Challenge

Students in Lynnfield and Concord recently got to participate in an academic challenge where they answered thousands of questions from numerous subject areas. And none of them had to leave their own school to do it.

In fact, Lynnfield-based company JogNog, which specializes in educational games for students, ran its first Interschool Mastermind Challenge involving and the two middle school buildings in Concord. The competition ran in March and the LMS students answered 7,321 questions correctly. In the JogNog games, academic questions are combined with elements of video gaming to give the students a fun and interactive learning experience.

On Wednesday, JogNog CEO and co-Founder Stephen Smith, a Lynnfield resident, was at the middle school with colleague Joshua Savage to present certificates and a trophy to students Dominick Gravante and Alex Ichimura, who himself answered more than 6,000 questions correctly. The group, joined by Vice Principal Adam Federico, are shown in the accompanying photo.

"The JogNog Mastermind Challenge is not a competition about how much you know, it is a competition about how much you can learn," said Smith. "Lynnfield students spent much time and effort learning and correctly answering questions on such diverse topics as owls, ants, Japanese mythology, emergency preparedness, Greek heroes, and astrophysics."
