Lynnfield resident Mike Klonsky working to raise $100,000 for MGH Cancer Center by competing in triathlons around the country.
Earlier in the summer, this website spoke with Lynnfield resident Mike Klonsky about his ongoing efforts to raise $100,000 for cancer research at Mass. General by participating in various triathlons.
Since then, Klonsky tells Lynnfield Patch that he placed 2nd in his age group and 30th overall in the Portland, Oregon triathlon. According to his blog at swimbikerunforcancer.com, Klonsky’s brother Andrew joined in to do his first triathlon.
In August, Klonsky also competed in the Timberman Triathlon in New Hampshire and placed 4th in his division. In that race, participants compete for maple syrup instead of a medal.
Earlier in August, Klonsky and his family were interviewed on Fox 25 when the channel’s morning news crew filmed one of its “Zip Trip” segments in town.
Klonsky’s wife, Toni Hurton Klonsky, has battled lymphoma for several years now and the family has been active in other anti-cancer efforts as well, including the Lymphomathon.
