Five Things You Need To Know Today: March 15
Dylan Rizzo fundraiser, 5-10 p.m. at Sonic.
Today is Tuesday, March 15. Here are five things you need to know:
Rizzo Fundraiser: There will be a fundraiser this evening at the Sonic Drive-In on Route 1 in Peabody from 5-10 p.m. for the Dylan Rizzo fund. Twenty percent of the proceeds, plus 100 percent of all tips, will be donated to the fund, which helps defray the medical bills of the former LHS hockey player, who remains hospitalized at Mass. General Hospital after a serious car crash earlier this winter.
Town Business: The town's board of health will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the selectmen's room at Town Hall.
Help Support Local Food Pantries: It's not too late to get tickets for this weekend's hunger awareness breakfast fundraiser on Saturday at the Thomson Country Club in North Reading. The speakers will include Dorothy Goodwin, president of Gathering Change, Inc. and Sandy Carriker of the North Reading Food Pantry. Call 617-548-5357 for tickets or more information. Ticket sales will help benefit area food pantries.
PAC Meeting Tomorrow: Wednesday night, there is a Parents Advisory Council meeting at the Lynnfield Preschool from 7-9 p.m. Speakers will include State Senator Katherine Clark, Rep. Brad Jones, Minority Speaker of the House, Judith Ursitti, Northeast Director of Advocacy, Autism Speaks and Amy Weinstock, Insurance Chair, Autism Families for Change (AFAM).
Education Note: The 5th annual College Fair for Students with Learning Differences will be held on Thursday, March 24th in the Woburn Memorial High School cafeteria, 88 Montvale Avenue, Woburn. The event will run from 6-8 p.m. Fifteen colleges are expected to attend. The event, hosted by Woburn High and Woburn's Special Education Parent Advisory Council (www.woburnPAC.org) is free and open to students, their families, and teachers. This event is the only one of its kind for the North Shore and MetroWest.
