Five Things You Need To Know: September 11

Town's annual 9/11 memorial observation is 8:30 a.m. at fire department headquarters.

Today is Tuesday, September 11. Here are five things you need to know.

The town’s annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony is this morning at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Lynnfield Fire Department headquarters at 59 Summer Street. A second remembrance is planned for 5:30 p.m. during the annual Rotary Club chicken BBQ on the town common.

Chicken BBQ: With the above in mind,  the 46th Annual Lynnfield Rotary Chicken Barbecue is today from 4:30 to 7 p.m., with a rain date of September 12. Tickets are $6 for a hot dog dinner and $12 for the chicken. As always, the event also includes entertainment and a classic car show.

Town Business: The conservation commission meets at 6:30 p.m. at town hall. The school committee meets at 7 p.m., also at town hall.

Constituent Service: Rep. Brad Jones has announced officer hours for Lynnfield on Friday, September 21 at town hall from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Guest Chef: Christine’s Café and Confections welcomes Chef Bill Mallette of Rockafella’s and the Colonial Function Hall in Salem Wednesday morning starting around 11 a.m.  Call 781-596-2259 and reserve some jumbalaya, which is said to be quite good.
