Five Things You Need To Know, Dec. 20
A look at events and activities in and around Lynnfield.
Today is Thursday, December 20th. Here are five things you need to know.
Teddy Bears For Newtown: As noted in this article from yesterday, two area sisters, both of them teachers, are working to collect hundreds of donated teddy bears to bring to kids in Newtown, Connecticut as part of a joint effort with that town’s local newspaper. Emily Donnellan teaches special needs in Gloucester and is also a karate instructor at Cervizzi’s Martial Arts in Lynnfield. If you’d like to donate a teddy bear, you can drop it off at the Cervizzi’s in Post Office Square Thursday afternoon – the dojo closes at 7:30 p.m.
An Announcement From The Library: Winter is almost here and the Lynnfield Public Library would like to remind you that if an announcement is made that the Lynnfield Public Schools will be closed or delayed due to inclement weather; the Lynnfield Public Library will be closed until 12:00 noon. During the morning a decision will be made as to what time the library can actually open. All scheduled programs and activities in the morning will be canceled. The decision to delay opening or close the library during inclement weather is made based on road and parking conditions and the weather forecast.
During periods of bad weather patrons should always call the library at 781.334.5411, or check our website (www.noblenet.org/lynnfield) or Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lynnfield-MA-Public-Library/270441799705377) to confirm our hours.
Mixing In Math: Speaking of the library, its “Mixing In Math” group, which helps kids in grades 1-4 build their math skills, meets Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. On Monday, Christmas Eve, the library closes at 1 p.m.
Gathering Change: Local nonprofit Gathering Change is at Barnes and Noble in Burlington this Saturday from 1 to 11 p.m. wrapping presents to help support local hunger relief efforts. The group collects spare change to provide to local food pantries.
Civil War Christmas: Coming up on Sunday, Dec. 23 at 7:30 p.m., the Unitarian Universalist Church and the Standing Room Only Concert Series present “A Civil War Christmas” featuring various performers doing selections from this crucial time in American history. Click here for more information
