Five Things to Know: Remember Pearl Harbor in Lynnfield

Essential daily information at a glance.

Today is Dec. 7, 2012. Here are five "Things to Know":

It's the 71st Anniversary of Pearl Harbor: It was 71 years ago today that Japan launched its devastating surprise attack on the U.S. Pacific Fleet in Honolulu, sparking the nation's entry into World War II.

Visit the Lynnfield World War II Memorial: The memorial is the perfect place to spend some time today for thankful reflection on our veterans' sacrifices.

Read About One Local Who Was There: Dorothy Lyons, whom we profiled last year, treated the wounded that day. She lives in Lynnfield.

Donate to Help Veterans: One way to remember Pearl Harbor is to help today's veterans by donating to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Attend a Concert By the Air Force Jazz Band: The U.S.A.F. Band of Liberty will be at Galvin Middle School in Wakefield tonight at 7 p.m. Free, but tickets are limited.
