Five Last Minute Gift Ideas In Lynnfield

If you've been putting off your shopping until the last minute, chances are you're not alone.

If you're reading this, chances are we're a bit similar my friend - at least when it comes to waiting until the very last minute to finish up all of the Christmas shopping. With that in mind, here are some last-minute Christmas gift ideas for those who just don't have another mall visit left in them.

- Here's a classic last minute, 5:30 p.m. Christmas Eve type of move - buy a pound of coffee at the Post Office Square (or some K-cups), and stick a bow on it. And while you're at it, you can never go wrong with their gift cards.

Of course, the previously mentioned last-minute Christmas idea only works with selected people, such as siblings-in-law, acquaintances from work, people you weren't expecting to give you something, and so forth.

So - here's a hidden bargain for anyone who's interested. Go into at Post Office Square before the close of business on Christmas Eve, mention reading about them in this Patch article, and you can get a 20 percent discount. Seriously. The idea came up during a random visit to the store last Friday.

- Yankee Candle on Route 1 has a buy 1, get 1 50 percent off special for some 40 varieties of Christmasy (my word not theirs)-scented candles.

- Gift cards, the unofficial currency of Christmas in this era - but they work, especially at the last minute. To keep it all efficient, here's a look at some in-town gift card ideas for. Here are five places in town (again with that '5' thing) for local restaurants and here are , and which for the most part, also sell gift cards.

- Christmas Spirits: This is probably the only plug for alcohol that will appear on this site until the next holiday season. There are three places in town - Donovan's, Kernwood Liquors and T+L Liquors Wine Cellar, where you can pick up a nice bottle of something as a last-minute Christmas gift. Bottles of Bailey's are a classic gift for this particular category, while other Christmas-y selections could include Godiva liquers or Vandermint.  For wine, I'm most partial to the reds - particularly Bordeaux, Chianti and Rioja. For whites, a Riesling might be good with the whole seasonal mood. And for some others, a nice tequila such as Patron Silver may be just the thing.
