Design Forecast: Container Gardening

A popular trend this year, container gardening offers a variety of ways to decorate your exterior spaces.

While we wait for spring flowers to return to our landscapes, now is a good time to think about our summer garden plans. If you had a chance to visit the Boston Flower & Garden Show last week at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston, you are probably already inspired to get started! While some of the extensive design scapes may seem intimidating at first glance, the theme this year celebrated the powerful visual impact of the easy-to-manage container garden.

Why container gardening?

  • containers create an instant garden in a small space
  • container gardens can be started indoors and then moved outside once the threat of frost has past
  • containers can be moved from one location to another with ease to achieve the best growing conditions
  • by using a variety of containers at different heights one can create a unique garden landscape
  • just about any plant will do well in a container garden
  • containers are a great way to decorate a deck, porch, front door or patio
  • the variety of containers available is endless!
